Finding the Right Therapist for You
Finding a therapist with whom you feel comfortable and safe is the single most important factor in therapy. A strong therapeutic relationship is grounded in mutual trust and respect. I am curious about your experiences and will work collaboratively with you to explore ways to make your life more satisfying. Because I am committed to helping you receive the treatment most beneficial to you, I will be happy to provide a referral if I am not the right therapist for you.
Appointments and Length of Treatment
Sessions are typically 45 minute session once weekly. We will decide on the frequency of your sessions during our first few meetings and can reassess during the course of our work together. Finding a pace that is manageable for you is important, and that pace may vary through treatment.
The length of treatment depends on the nature of your concerns and the goals we set for our work together. You may see me for a short time in response to a particular problem or situation or the scope of our work may change as we explore more long standing patterns of behavior.
Fees & Insurance
My current fees are $120.00/45 minute session. I accept payment by cash or check at the time of service. I do not currently accept insurance. However, many plans offer some coverage for out of network providers. I am able to provide you with monthly billing statements that you may submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
Beginning the Therapy Process
Please email or call me to discuss how I can help you and ask any questions you have. If you decide you would like to meet after talking, we will set up an initial appointment. This appointment, and the next few sessions, is a good time to determine if I am a good fit for your situation and whether you are comfortable working with me. In the first few sessions I will do a lot of careful listening so that I can learn about your life and what is important to you. I will ask questions about your history, about the challenges that prompted you to seek treatment, and offer thoughts to help you make sense of the issues you are struggling with. During these sessions, pay close attention to the degree of comfort and openness with me, as finding a therapist with whom you feel safe is essential to the success of your therapy.
I welcome any questions you may have about therapy. I look forward to talking with you.
